You have finally made it through school, and now have been hired with a company. You report to the company for orientation which will last for up to 5 days, and most company's will only give you maybe $25.00 per day for this. Some company's won't JD Truck Training Centre even do this. Of course the feed you lunch, and put you in a cheap motel, and provide you with a van to take you to the terminal and back to the motel.
4) Test and receive your CDL. The CDL is required for anyone who wants to drive tractor trailers, buses, tow trucks, and other trucks which way at least 26,000 pounds. Most states require the future driver to be at least 21, although there are states that will issue a CDL to ages as low as 18. The CDL's are only good for the driver's residence, but if you want to get started early, hopefully you reside in one of these states. There are several endorsements that you can apply for once you receive your CDL, including Hazardous Materials and Tank Trucks, but those are for later in your career. Second option is to join a Truck driving school run by any trucking company. These schools offer you free truck driving courses but they usually make you sign one year contract that you will work for the company. At this duration they will pay a little lower wage as they try and compensate what they spent for your truck driver graduation. The disadvantage of this option is that you get stuck for one year with one trucking company and in case you intend to leave they will charge you what they have spent on your course. The advantage is you have the job security as soon as you complete your lessons and you do not have to pay any upfront fees from your side.
Body styles. The standard Dakota truck will seat up to three people, just like Dakotas of old. A special two-seater with bucket sets would fit in nicely with this model. An extended cab model with rear seating available would make this truck ideal for seating up to five adults. Look for short- and long-bed versions of this truck to be sold too.
Before you take multiple dogs in your vehicle along with you, put together a master plan about the best way to get us both out of the vehicle. I learned that traveling, by car, to the top of Mt Lemmon, which is located in the Santa Catalina Mountains, is some 9100+ feet above sea level. When I took Jessica, my teenaged daughter, there, we learned that going from Tucson to the top of the mountain, was like traveling from the border of Mexico to the Canadian border, as far as the changes in Temperate Zones experienced. As I recall, it was around 70 degrees in Tucson, and people were skiing on the snow, in the 20's to 30 degree mark atop Mount Lemmon.
Accredited Schools: Most all private trucking schools are accredited and licensed by the state. Some public institution trucking schools are also accredited and licensed by the state. You should ask if they are accredited and licensed. You can also call the state and ask about the particular place that you want to attend. They will also tell you if that school had or has any complaints.
